The Kindred Life Podcast Ep. 2: Let's Be Mermaids
How can we choose a life that dives into the depths? How can we find the courage to jump wholeheartedly into an unpredictable life with faith and vulnerability? In this episode, I share a story of something that happened 7 years ago, an inspiring Morgan Harper Nichols poem, and some prompts for how we can all live more deeply and bravely.
As usual, I also share a gratefulness practice and invite you to join me. If you need a breath of fresh inspiration in your life today, listen in!
Here are some photos & links of things I mention in Episode 2. Listen to the episode so you know what this is about!
First, here’s the cove where I’m fairly certain there were mermaids. This is where I slipped on sea slime in front of EVERYONE.
Ahhh, here are some photos of our days without time in the Santa Ynez Valley, including a night Steven got to make homemade pizza on a friend’s outdoor pizza oven.
Here’s an image I saw somewhere online around the time we took this trip, and I saved it. This image inspired part of this episode.
A big part of living a Kindred Life is making space and carving out time for relationships that go past the shallower waters and into the depths. In chapter 13 of my book, The Kindred Life, I talk about “slowing down to the speed of listening” and how this practice is essential for gaining perspective, for finding the gold amidst the dross, for hearing another person’s stories, and growing our relationships.
