The Portrait Walk In Downtown Columbia, TN

I vividly remember the day - last April 2020 - when our friend, neighbor, and talented photographer, Sarah B. Gilliam, took this photo of our little family on our farm as part of her Maury County Small Business Series.

We were in the middle of COVID lockdowns and could only wave to our customers from afar when they came to pick up online orders. We all felt so uncertain of what the future would hold, as we were unable to see friends or family or even breathe their air.

On this particular morning, Sarah came by with her zoom lens. Steven was in the middle of making cinnamon rolls, I was prepping a new zinnia row for planting, and our girls were working alongside both of us between playing fairies in the yard.

I’ll never forget this authentic moment she captured - there was no time to freshen up - we were wearing exactly what we were wearing, doing exactly what we would be doing a normal Saturday here on the farm.

Now, this photo is a part of The Portrait Walk, a fun art installation on the sidewalks of downtown Columbia, TN, and we’re so grateful. Sarah Gilliam has taken so many beautiful photos of our Kindred Dinners in the past, and now she’s captured us and so many other wonderful local businesses in our element. If you’re nearby, swing by Columbia, take a walk around the square, and be inspired.

When we took our girls to town this week to see it, they were pretty surprised! It’s not every day you get to see your face on a sidewalk. 😉
