5 Tips For How To Get Your Reading In...
Are you an avid reader or WISH you were? Here are 5 tips for how to get your reading in…
Make it a priority! I often choose to read my current fiction or non-fiction read rather than scroll social media or read a magazine.
Take your book with you wherever you go. You never know when you’ll have a few minutes to sneak in 10 more pages - waiting in a carpool line, waiting for your kids to wake up in the back seat, on the train, etc.
Always read your book club book at a certain time of day. One of my friends always reserves early morning for reading a spiritual/self-help/non-fiction book, but any afternoon or evening is reserved for fiction.
Carve out a “quiet/reading time” with your family, so everyone is reading or doing something quiet at the same. Seeing us read encourages our children to read, and it can be more motivating if everyone is doing it separately, together.
Have a reading meetup with a bookish friend, where you both sit beside each other at a park or coffeeshop quietly reading you own books. “It is so nice when you can sit with someone and not have to talk…” (from one of my favorite movies, When Harry Met Sally).
This is an excerpt from my free Book Club Guide: Novels + Tea + Friends = Book Club. There are 22 pages total of goodness for you to take your love of books and reading and shape it into a time of community and connection with friends or just a single friend. JUST ADD: tea + snacks.
